B Squad Mission:

The B Squad Transport Team is made up of regular people who want to make a difference in this world. We partner with rescue groups to transport dogs from the Pine Ridge and Rosebud reservations to rescue groups in the Twin Cities area. We want the rescues to worry about saving dogs, so we provide the rides!

These transports cost $300-$400 and take 16-20 hours each. They carry between 10-30 dogs and we do them TWICE A WEEK! B Squad members have transported more than 500 dogs since January 1, 2016 and more than 2000 since January 2015! All items on the sale have been donated by our supporters who want to help us reach our goal of $10,000 to help fund transports through the summer. 100% of money raised at this sale buys gas money for our volunteers!

Against the Wild 2: Survive the Serengeti

A heartwarming adventure perfect for families, Against the Wild 2: Survive The Serengeti, arrives on DVD May 10, 2016 from Anchor Bay Entertainment and on Digital HD April 29, 2016.

For bickering siblings Ryan (John Paul Ruttan of Shelby: A Magical Holiday Tail and Emma (Ella Ballentine of Standoff), it was going to be a fun weekend visit with their dad who is temporarily working in Africa. But when their small plane crash-lands in the Serengeti, they have only each other – along with their fellow passenger, a Malamute named Chinook – to rely on. The rescue teams are searching. Their mom (Jeri Ryan of “Star Trek: Voyager” and “Boston Public”) is panicked. Can brother, sister and one courageous dog now learn how to conquer their fears and trust each other in the most beautiful yet untamed wilderness of all? Ashley Dowds (“Scout’s Safari”) co-stars in this exciting new family adventure from the creator of the original Against the Wild Richard Boddington.

The Dove-family approved film will be available on DVD for the suggested retail price of $19.98 and includes outtakes and interviews from cast members.

2nd Annual Chihuahua Fashion Show

The Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at Falls Park on Saturday, May 7th will be doing the Chihuahua Fashion Show again! If you missed it last year, you can view a photo gallery here by Little White Dog Pet Photography.

In case you missed the Fiesta last year and want to know more about this fun event, we did a Q&A with Jen Rothenbuehler of Presentation Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Q: Who’s idea was it & what inspired them to have a Chihuahua Fashion Show at the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta?

The idea came about during a marketing brainstorming meeting, and it was the idea of Steve Roers, who is in the marketing department at Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo is our presenting sponsor for the Fiesta.

Q: How many volunteers & organizers does it take to put on a fashion show for Chihuahuas?

We have over 240 volunteers for the day of the event, but specifically for the fashion show, we have a committee of five amazing ladies! We also have help from our intern for the fashion show and the Fiesta. Then we have some fantastic judges for the fashion show as well.

Q: How many years have you been doing the Chihuahua Fashion Show?

This will be the second year of the Chihuahua Fashion Show.

Q: How many participants did you have last year?

Last year we had 21 dogs enter the fashion show contest. We would love to grow it this year and have 40 dogs!

Q: Do the dogs have to be a Chihuahua to enter?

They do not need to be a purebred Chihuahua, just any mix of the Chihuahua breed.

Q: Are any dogs welcome to attend the festival?

Yes, most definitely! It is a family friendly event, and part of those families are our four legged friends.

Q: What are some tips you have for being a judge’s favorite?

The more creative you can be the better! Let your imagination run wild with your costume ideas!

Q: How many categories will you be judging?

We will be judging in six categories.

Q: What are the winning categories?

The categories are best dressed girl, best dressed boy, best duo – owner and dog, best mutt strut, most creative, and crowd favorite.

Q:Is there a fee to enter?

There is no fee to enter. You just need to complete the registration form and include your current vaccination records for your pooch. You can download applications on our website at www.cincofiesta.com, or by contacting Jen Rothenbuehler at jrothenbuehler@presentationsisters.org or 605.360.2457.

Q: Is the Cinco de Mayo a fundraiser? Who is it benefitting?

Yes, the Cinco De Mayo Fiesta is a fundraiser for our Hispanic ministry, Caminando Juntos. Caminando Juntos, meaning walking together, is the name of the Presentation Sisters’ ministry among the Hispanic people in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota area. This ministry, which began in 2002, continues to grow as the population in Sioux Falls and the surrounding area becomes more diverse. In February 2006 Caminando Juntos was Recognized by the Board of Immigration Appeals and Sister Janet Horstman was Accredited to provide legal immigration services. In January 2011 Caminando Juntos expanded its offices, reception and waiting areas to better serve the needs of their guests at this growing ministry. Services provided include:

  • Assistance to accessing healthcare, education, legal and social service systems
  • Accompaniment of women and children in abusive relationships
  • Visitation to homes, hospitals and state penitentiary
  • Education through English classes and citizenship preparation
  • Provision of immigration counseling and services by an Accredited Immigration Specialist
  • Promotion of human rights for Latinos

Q: What other entertainment is there throughout the day?

We have an amazing lineup of entertainment for the day, including Rumba Tempo, Mariachi Nuevo Guachinango, and La Exclusiva Banda Trancazitos. We also have a free kids zone which includes airbrush tattoos, inflatables, pinatas and more! New to the Fiesta this year is Hoop the Fair, with hula hoop demonstrations and fun. And then of course the Chihuahua Fashion Show at 1pm!  For a full line up of entertainment, food vendors, and more please visit our website at www.cincofiesta.com.

Q: Will there be a photographer?

Yes, we are thrilled to have Kelly Middlebrooks with Little White Dog Pet Photography join us again this year! Check out Kelly’s amazing photos at www.siouxfallspetpics.com.
